| A trophy Alaska-Yukon Moose is the most sought after big game species in Alaska. Your guided Alaska moose hunting trip will be in Western Alaska, where we have the best chance of spotting one of these gigantic animals. The average bull we will shoot for harvesting will be 60" and larger.
Alaska-Yukon moose are basically just big swamp donkeys. Hip boots are the preferred footwear on a moose hunt and you will spend a lot of time in them, so make sure they fit well and are comfortable.
Physically, moose hunting is moderate in exertion. That trophy bull might be on the other side of the muskeg swamp, so walking across the tundra in hip boots is the minimum requirement from you.
As far as weapon recommendations go, moose are medium-thick skinned animals with big bones. Your weapon must be able to penetrate to the heart and lungs. Please refer to the Hunter's Gear List for equipment to bring.
Moose camp is more comfortable than sheep camp because we are not carrying it on our backs! The tents are bigger, food is fresh and moose tenderloin is always the favorite meal I cook.
