| We will travel to Western Alaska) for your guided Alaska grizzly bear hunting trip. Spring grizzly bear hunting on snowshoes can be the most fun hunting in Alaksa. We are hunting the bears in their denning area and sometimes we catch a glimpse of the bear coming out of their winter home. We guide grizzly hunting trips as a single species every odd year in the Spring and every year in the Fall. A grizzly bear may also be harvested during a moose or Dall sheep combination hunt.
The spike camp we will be hunting out of is equipped with everything
you will need during your 10 day hunt and you will be camping in
water resistant, professional quality tents. You can find a list
of items you are responsible for bringing on the Hunter's Gear List and we will take care of the rest.
Walking could be up to one mile a day from spike camp to the place
we will glass for bears. When a bear is spotted, a stalk of a few
miles in hip boots is to be expected. Alaska bear hunts are “usually”
one of the least physically demanding hunts, but if we spot a Boone
& Crockett animal on the other side of a two-mile-across
swamp, you will be glad you prepared yourself physically for the
trophy bear hunt of a life time.
To stop a bear it's not “how big of a rifle can you shoot?” but how well can you place the bullet in the right spot when your heart is pounding from hiking, the adrenaline is flowing, and you have to shoot standing up because there is alder brush between you and the bear.

A .300 Magnum caliber or larger loaded with a quality bonded bullet
will stop any bear if you put it through both lungs. Your elephant
gun that just gathers dust every year won't stop the bear if you
can only hit him in the leg because you flinch from the recoil.
If the ammo is too expensive to practice with, you probably can't
afford this hunt. There is no excuse for not practicing.
